Reports Overview
Introduction
The platform provides versatile reports that provide valuable insights into your cloud accounts. The reports are powered by rich data transformation and data visualization layers to give you the intelligent insights required. You can download these reports into PDF or Excel formats for internal reporting.
The platform reports can be generated by users to get details related to cost, operations, resources, security, compliance, etc. Reports are important to users as it provides them various statistics based on which they can take further actions on their cloud accounts. It is very easy to generate reports in the platform.
To get started, you can access the Reports module from the left navigation of the platform. The Reports dashboard shows all the main pillars of the platform. The reports are grouped under each governance pillar in the Global tab. This tab appears by default when you access Reports. Within each pillar, reports are again classified as per cloud provider like AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI, and Multi-Cloud. Within each provider, reports are again classified as per categories. To view a particular report, expand a category and then click the report you want to view/generate.
For example, if you want to navigate to AWS Activity report, then you must perform the following steps:
-
Access the platform and on the left menu bar, click Reports.
-
Click Operations > AWS > Activity Analytics > AWS Activity. This generates the AWS Activity report.
After you navigate to the report for which you would like to view details, you can apply parameters or filters to the report and view the details. It is mandatory to select parameters for SSRS reports to view report details, but on the other hand, analytics reports show up without any parameters.
Key Features of Reports
the platform reports are of two types -- SSRS reports and analytics reports. Users can access and generate the reports as per their assigned role and access levels.
SSRS Reports
SSRS stands for SQL Server Reporting Services and is a reporting software that allows you to produce formatted reports with tables in the form of data, graph, images, and charts. These reports are hosted on the platform’s server and can be executed anytime using the parameters defined by the users.
These are built like PDF reports and are rendered with the help of SSRS. You can select appropriate values for Tenants, Cloud Accounts, and Assessment Period to view the report. These reports can be exported in a PDF or Excel format and are triggered with point-in-time data. Users can also subscribe to these reports on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.
Below are the different types of SSRS reports available in the platform:
Cost Reports
Resource Reports
Operations Reports
Compliance Reports
Analytics Reports
Analytics is focused on gaining a deeper understanding of the data. It often involves exploring data at a more granular level to identify patterns and relationships between different data points. Analytical reports also called as Analytics reports provide more detailed information and insights into various aspects of your cloud accounts.
These reports help users to slice and dice the data as per their requirements. The navigation option on the left of the report helps with different views in which the reports can be presented and the Filter section on the right of the screen helps in selecting the required fields and customizing the date range for analytics.
Analytics reports can be shared with users (even if they are not a user of the platform) with the help of the Share Report option.
