CoreStack FinOps

Cost Anomaly Detection and Notification

  • Cost Anomaly to detect abnormal cost spend that is above or below the threshold amount. Anomaly is detected through billing data. The cost anomaly details can be viewed in Cost Anomaly (Billing) - Summary.
  • Added notification feature to inform users about cost anomaly. Email notifications will be sent to users within 24–48 hours of its detection. Four different types of emails are sent based on the cloud spend and the users can take appropriate actions accordingly.
  • Added new user interface with interactive graphical representation.
  • Ability to view the root cause of the anomaly.
  • Cost anomaly now works with a single-click of button, no additional configuration settings needed by the user, unless they want to customize any setting.

Cost Optimization

Schedule Recommendations
  • The system generates schedule recommendations of resources considering maximum resource utilization value (High confidence recommendation) and also generates recommendations of resources considering average resource utilization value (Medium confidence recommendation). The resources listed under both these categories are mutually exclusive.
Reject Recommendations
  • You can ignore a resource from future recommendation by rejecting the recommendation. This rejected recommendation can be tracked under Activity Logs section. You can also re-activate a rejected recommendation.
FinOps Assessment report
  • Resource utilization summary is available under recommendations listing in the report. This helps you to understand the recommendation reasoning and make an informed decision on applying the recommendation.

Alert Navigation Through Email

  • CoreStack uses emails to notify on alerts to its customers. These alerts have details such as (Service, Account Name, AWS Account ID, AWS Region, Activity Time, Resource ID, etc.). Earlier navigation of the specific alert was not easy as you have to navigate to the specific alert by using the given details in the email. We have simplified the process by enabling navigation to the respective alerts through email for quick remediation. This is currently available for key utilization alerts and will be extended in forthcoming releases.

Integration

Zoho ServiceDesk

  • CoreStack now offers integration with Zoho ManageEngine ServiceDesk to simplify your ITSM and asset management solution. The integration enables any alerts generated through CoreStack to be tracked through ServiceDesk for the entire life cycle limiting incident manual redundancies until resolution, and automatically manages the entire process to make asset management and ITSM more simpler.

Azure Application Insights

  • CoreStack integrates with Azure Application insights which is an extension of Azure monitor, Application insights provides performance monitoring by detecting anomalies to help the customer understand their application performance. Now with this integration Corestack enables users to view app insights data together in a single screen through seamless integration for performance tracking. There are various features that Application Insights include and some key are detailed out for understanding.
    • Application Insights include:

      Live Metrics: Observe activity from your deployed application in real time with no effect on the host environment.

      Availability: Probe your application's external endpoint(s) to test the overall availability and responsiveness over time.

      GitHub or Azure DevOps integration: Create GitHub or Azure DevOps work items in context of your Application Insights data

      Usage: Understand which features are popular with users and how users interact and use your application.

      Smart Detection: Automatic failure and anomaly detection through proactive telemetry analysis.

AppDynamics

  • Corestack now provides integration with AppDynamics which uses AI(Artificial intelligence) to monitor your Application performance and ensures proactive measures are taken to maintain the application reliability, with this feature customers will now be able to get a look into their metrics via CoreStack. AppDynamics assists in monitoring various metrics, some of the key metrics are listed below
    • These metrics include:

      Application performance: Helps to avoid downtime that affects or disrupts a user's experience and prevents you from meeting Service-Level Agreements (SLAs).

      CPU usage: Any CPU performance degradation can affect disk read and write speeds and create significant memory issues. AppDynamics tracks CPU usage metrics to avoid these issues.

      Error rates: Enables you to keep an eye on web requests that could result in application-affecting errors.

      Request rates: Collects data around spikes in application traffic activity, periods of inactivity and the number of active users. This helps to identify issues with applications and areas of the application that may need optimizing.

      Response times: Uses historical data on application response times to track application slowdowns in real-time.

Tenant Selection

  • While onboarding an AWS account in CoreStack, the default template (metrics set by CoreStack for Amazon CloudWatch or tracking activities) within CoreStack is enabled. The default template based on the cloud provider is applied automatically. After onboarding, you can add another template and set it as default. By cloning the existing default template, you can add a tag constraint in order to make it new default. You can select and enable multiple templates as well. The selected templates should have tag constraints applied to them which enables monitoring of the respective resources tagged across them. In cases where no tag constraints are present, the respective resources will be monitored based on the originally-applied default template.

Security Posture

  • Enhanced the Threat Dashboard to include detailed threat information that help users take appropriate actions against any potential threats.

Dashboard

  • Added the following vulnerability information widgets in the Security Executive Dashboard. This provides executive view to users and they can take appropriate actions accordingly.
    • Vulnerability Trend by Severity
    • Vulnerability Severity by Accounts
    • Vulnerability by Region

Reports

  • The SecOps Maturity Assessment report is updated with new fields/sections that presents the three pillars of SecOps framework, that is, Inform, Operate, and Assure. This provides the strategy to mature the security posture from Operate to Assure.

CoreStack Core

Tagging Governance

  • Added next generation tagging governance that allows the users to define baselines, visualize tag posture, and allows easy to use tag remediations.
