Manage Policies

Policies can be used to define certain rules and report any anomalies for such predefined rules. E.g. Non-Standard Security Group Rules, Orphaned Volumes, Idle VMs etc.,

Policy

Search and Filter

Enter a few keywords in the search box and filter features to find policies from the list. The filter options available are:

  • Filter by Date
  • Filter by Services

Policy Listing

Click Policy in the side menu to go to the Policy Listing page. There are two tabs :

  • Marketplace Policies: These policies are available across all tenants and are usually created by the Product administrator. In our hosted version, it is managed by CoreStack™. In On-premise installations, it will be managed by the overall administrator. (Cannot be managed at Tenant level)
  • My Policies: These policies are created within the tenant and are listed only for the specific tenant members.

The Policy screen appears as shown below:

View Policy Details

  • Click on a policy to learn its details. The Policy Details screen appears as shown:

Policy Actions

The policy actions are available as buttons that appear upon hovering on the actions button:

  • Execute
  • Update
  • Delete

Executing a policy

  • To execute a policy click on the play icon as shown below:

A pop-up appears as shown below. There are three fields that appear that can be modified:

  • Service Account
  • Resourcegroup
  • Locations

  • Modify any of the selections if necessary. Then click the Run Now button.

Updating a policy

  • To update a policy click on the pencil icon as shown below:

A pop-up appears as shown below. There are the fields that appear that can be modified:

Name Enter the name of the policy such as Idle VMs, etc.
Description Give a brief description
Category Select a category, such as service
Type Select the type – Cloud
Services The Cloud Services being used – AWS, Azure, Openstack
Classifications Consists of Provisioning, Configure, Backup, Account Management, etc.
Scope Select the scope as tenant
Current Policy Data Download the current policy data in txt format
File Click Browse and upload the policy file in txt format

Deleting a policy

  • To delete a policy click on the cross icon as shown below:

A message box appears asking for confirmation on the delete action:

  • Click OK to delete

Create New Policy

Follow the steps given below to create a new policy:

  • Click Create button present in the right section of the screen

  • In the Create Policy screen that appears, fill in the following details:
Name Enter the name of the policy such as Idle VMs, etc.
Description Give a brief description
Category Select a category, such as service
Scope Select the scope as tenant
File Click Browse and upload the policy file in txt format

Policy Violations Dashboard

You can view the Policy Violations dashboard by clicking the dashboard icon
